A Serbian Gastronomy Tour

Serbia Serbia

Saturday 4 February

Theatre 1
Time: 3.00pm
Title: A Serbian Gastronomy Tour
Speaker: Serbian Food and Wine Expert - Dragon Aleksic

Vladimir Popovic swapped a career in economics to follow his passion for food. Born in Golubac, a small fishing village on the banks of the Danube in Serbia where his grandparents owned a farm, Vladimir’s interest in food started at an early age driven by their quest for fresh and organic produce. Vladimir was the principal caterer at the Serbian Embassy in London for over 10 years catering for many dignitaries with official dinners, banquets and cocktail parties serving traditional Serbian food with a modern twist. Vladimir shares his knowledge, tips and passion for food at this year’s Destinations in London with a practical cooking demonstration and a talk and presentation on gastronomy in Serbia.

Serbia is one of Europe’s original ‘Slow Food’ destinations with an array of seasonal organic fruit, vegetables and locally reared meats on offer in every region. Life has changed little in the last forty years in rural Serbia, so come and enjoy a culinary journey which will take in the highlights of the north, south and east of the country and explain the regional differences in the food and wine on offer in this fascinating country.
