Exhibitor Profile:
Ever wanted to get really off the beaten track?
From the remote tribes of unseen North East India, coffee plantations of Colombia and the medieval monasteries of Serbia to the dramatic landscapes of Eastern Turkey and the ancient heritage of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan - our tours will take your breath away.
Our style of travel
People travel for a variety of reasons, which is why we have made our tours as varied as possible. Our tours include treks, elephant-back and jeep safaris, village visits, rafting, boat rides, helicopter rides and so much more.
Accommodation
Accommodation on our tours has been carefully selected and varies from delightful eco-camps, converted farmhouses, comfortable hotels, friendly guest houses and traditional bamboo cottages, as well as homestays on selected itineraries. This will allow you to experience the true character of your chosen destination.
Guides
A good guide can make the difference between an ordinary trip and a wonderful lifelong memory. That is why we have gone to great lengths in sourcing the best guides available. Our guides are experienced, knowledgeable and well-versed in English as well as the local languages. We encourage you to interact with them to enrich your travel experience.
Solo Travellers
We gladly welcome solo travellers, and are proud to say we don’t charge exorbitant single supplements. In fact, if we can’t pair you with another same-sex traveller, then you don’t pay anything extra at all. If you request your own room you will find that our single supplements are refreshingly fair.
Private Trips
Want something more personal? Private trips can be arranged for groups of any size on any of our standard tours. Alternatively, we can also arrange tailor-made itineraries in any of our countries of operation. Please contact us for more information and advice.
Add-ons/Short tours
If that’s not enough, we also have a range of exciting add-ons to extend your adventures. You can discover the Living Root Bridges in North East India, trek to Colombia’s Lost City, be one of the few to discover remote Lebanon or explore the rustic villages of Northern Serbia.
Responsible Travel
As regular travellers one thing that never ceases to amaze and touch us while travelling is the kindness and generosity of people, often people who have next-to-nothing to their name. Such interactions bring meaning to travel and a sense of warmth and well-being. We firmly believe that the people who make these places special should also benefit from them.
As first preference we use local guides, locally-owned lodges, shops and eateries, and do our best to ensure that the benefits of our tours reach as widely as possible into the communities where they operate. We will also make significant donations from our profits to projects in those communities. This makes Travel The Unknown unique.
Environment
Eco-tourism and carbon footprints are recently hitting the headlines, but this in an area we have taken seriously for some time. Our tours are 100% carbon-neutral and all of our prices include a contribution to Climate Care to offset both air and land emissions. To minimise waste, all of our brochures are also available for online browsing or PDF download.
