Bolivian Dancer in association with HighLives

Travel company HighLives are providing several performances for the World Entertainment Stage. The Bolivian Heritage Dancers (left) will be performing on Thursday 31st January, the Bolivian Bloque Kantuta Dancers (centre) and Phaxsi Coca (right) will be performing on Saturday 2nd February. Lila Bhawa Dance Group Presenting:

Legong Dance (Dancer: Yani Asmayawati)

Legong is a classical Balinese dance which originated in the early 19th century. Legong Lasem tells a story of King Lasem and Princess Langkesari, whom he has abducted and attempts to seduce.

Gambyong Pangkur Dance (Dancer: Andrea Rutkowski)

Gambyong Pangkur is a traditional court dance from Central Java, usually performed at the beginning of an evening's festivities, accompanied by a full gamelan ensemble.

Baris Tunggal Dance (Dancer: Pagi Asmara)

Baris Tunggal is a traditional war dance of Bali, accompanied by gamelan, in which a solo dancer depicts the feelings of a young warrior prior to battle, glorifying the manhood of the triumphant Balinese warrior and displaying the sublimity of his commanding presence.

 

 

London Okinawa Sanshinkai in association with InsideJapan Tours

London Okinawa Sanshinkai is a multinational group that shares a love of music from Okinawa and the surrounding Ryukyu islands. Members range from young children and teenagers through to adults. They seek to promote and share the unique culture of the Ryukyu people through music and dance performance. The London Okinawa Sanshinkai group will be performing at 11am on Sunday 3rd February.
