A passionate adventurer known for his Expedition1000 project, an ambitious series of twenty five journeys of at least 1000 miles in length, each one using a different method of non-motorised transport. Dave hopes to raise £1,000,000 for charity by the end of the project, which will take him across three oceans, to both poles, and to every continent on Earth.
A graphic designer by trade, Dave gave up his career in 2005, took up skate-boarding and founded the charitable initiative BoardFree..
In 2006 Dave completed his first professional expedition, becoming the first person to skate the length of Britain. That was just a warm-up for his second journey, a 3600 mile skate across Australia from Perth to Brisbane, which became a Guinness world record for the longest journey by skateboard.
Since 2006, Dave has been pursuing his Expedition1000 quest, completing his second and third expeditions of the project by kayaking 1540 miles along Australia’s Murray River and cycling 1396 miles from Vancouver to Las Vegas.
In the Summer of 2011 Dave broke two more world records as he Stand Up Paddleboarded 2404 miles from source to sea along the Mississippi River, completing the journey in 82 days.
He is currently working on the next expeditions of his Expedition1000 series, as well as touring on a promotional tour of his new book, DATE, which is about an adventure of a very different kind.
All of Dave's projects raise funds for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel and the AVFoundation - a charity that works in East African schools and communities developing water systems.
