GW TRAVEL 2010 / 2011 BROCHURE
Voyages of a Lifetime by Private Train™
GW Travel, the world’s leading operator of exclusive, long-distance rail tours, is delighted to showcase its 2010/2011 brochure at the Destinations Travel Show which includes five brand new journeys. Offering Voyages of a Lifetime by Private Train™, the itineraries cover Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, China, Tibet, Canada, India and Africa.
Six trains operating on three continents offer the discerning and adventurous traveller the opportunity to visit some of the world’s most remote and memorable destinations in comfort and style. Each train is the best available in its location, and none better than GW Travel’s flagship Golden Eagle Trans-Siberian Express®, launched in April 2007 and running on the legendary Trans-Siberian route. New for 2010, GW Travel has added New Heritage Class as a third cabin option to the Golden Eagle in addition to Silver and Gold Class to offer a lower-priced entry point to the programme.
GW Travel embraces the golden age of travel; guests are treated to welcoming cabins, fine dining and elegant surroundings against a backdrop of ever-changing spectacular scenery, and off train tours revealing the secrets of each location courtesy of the dedicated and experienced GW Travel tour management teams.
Whether the guest is seeking to experience a classic journey such as the Trans-Siberian (Eastbound and Westbound) aboard the Golden Eagle or discover the Silk Road, arguably the most important trading route of ancient civilisation; revel in the tapestry of contrasts and contradictions that define modern India aboard the Deccan Odyssey; travel the world’s highest railway to Lhasa, Tibet and delve deep into mysterious China aboard the Shangri-La Express; be inspired by the majesty and grand scale of Canada and its natural beauty aboard The Canadian Empress; or be immersed in Africa and its rich and varied cultures aboard The Pride of Africa*, GW Travel encompasses the best the world has to offer in luxurious but adventurous travel by train. A number of the tours also provide the opportunity to stay in luxurious hotel accommodation as part of the itinerary.
In addition to the main rail programme, there are also a number of tailor-made tour extensions offered including the opportunities to experience Kamchatka and the Gobi Desert.
Expanding on the guest speaker programme, GW Travel has lined up an impressive programme of speakers to accompany select tours for 2010. The guest speakers will provide fascinating insights and informative talks about different aspects of the journey, covering the local culture, history, people and destinations.
The guest speakers include; John Simpson CBE, BBC World Affairs Editor, on the Trans-Siberian Express Winter Wonderland (February 2010); John Sergeant, former Political Editor for ITN on the Trans-Siberian Express (June 2010); Michel Veniat, Export Director for Maison Louis Latour and Burgundy Wine Expert on the Trans-Siberian Express (July 2010); Paul Theroux, award-winning travel writer, on the Darjeeling Mail (September 2010); and Farokh Engineer, former world-class Indian cricketer and match referee in the Indian Premier League on the Madras Mail (September 2010).
