In 1992 Lyn Hughes and her late husband, Paul Morrison, were bored on a flight to South America and so schemed out their ideal travel magazine on the back of a sickbag. The idea stuck and, returning to the UK a few months later, they launched Wanderlust magazine from their spare bedroom. The magazine gradually grew through word of mouth, and went on to be one of the UK’s leading travel magazines, with numerous awards under its belt. Later this year it will celebrate its 15th anniversary
and 100th issue. Despite the pressures of running a business, Lyn is still a writer and photographer in her own right, and her top interest is still travel. In October 2006 The Times lauded Lyn as one of the “50 Most Influential People in Travel.”
Raised in California but transported 30 years ago to the UK, Ethel Davies is the author of Bradt’s North Africa: The Roman Coast. She works as a freelance writer and photographer. She spends her time travelling and documenting her experiences in words and pictures, and her work appears in the media in many guises. She has also written books on Marrakech and Reykjavik.
Diana Jarvis – Rough Guides Senior Designer - Diana has travelled extensively - predominantly solo - throughout the world and has worked on several photography commissions for Rough Guides. She is Rough Guides’ senior designer and also does freelance travel, music and events photography.
Tom Hall is Travel Editor at Lonely Planet and the writer of the weekly Ask Tom feature in The Observer travel section, and also contributes to a host of other magazines and newspapers in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Tom is a regular commentator on travel news and events in the media, including BBC Breakfast, Radio One, Sky News, CNN and Six Music.
