Is sustainable travel the new way to travel?  Richard Hammond (editor of the award-winning website www.greentraveller.co.uk) and Jeremy Smith (former editor of the Ecologist) will explore a huge selection of unusual, alternative and incredible experiences, taken from their new book Clean Breaks – 500 new ways to see the world.

From riding with cowboys in Venezuela or learning to dance in Rio, through to chilling in a Provençal treehouse or taking the train-hotel from Paris to Madrid, each experience offers a new and progressive way to travel, making a real difference to the local people and to the planet.  Richard and Jeremy will discuss why travelling in a sustainable and green way can often be the most rewarding, and even how you can get more from your money from this type of travel.  In their own words: "The most inspiring person to take you on safari is likely to be a local guide whose ancestors have lived on the land for thousands of years; your dinner tends to be better when the cook has grown and harvested the ingredients themselves; the most suitable person to take you to meet remote tribes is someone who understands their culture, speaks their language, and is committed to their welfare; and no one understands wildlife behaviour better than the conservationists dedicated to their survival". From train travel through to some of the world’s most intriguing festivals, wildlife and indigenous peoples, Jeremy and Richard will show why sustainable travel is the new way to travel.
