Ori means "folding", and kami means "paper"

Origami is a traditional Japanese art of paper folding, which started in the 17th century AD and as since become popular world wide. 
When you see a  folded paper bird or flower you instantly think origami and japan.

Origami has been shown to aid hand eye co-ordination in the young and elderly and those requiring physiotherapy
it can also help teach patience, relieve anxiety and help relaxation and concentration.
It is also fun and artisitic.
 
You may believe that origami is complicated and difficult but we all have memories of folding paper aeroplanes at school.
