A nation of dramatic contrasts -- from the beautiful barrier reef and offshore cayes, to the lush interior dotted with Maya temples -- Belize continues to captivate visitors with its many different facets, and the warmth of its people.

Something of an enigma, Belize is as difficult to categorize as its visitors are diverse – for some it’s a Caribbean country in Central America, for others a Maya stronghold. What is beyond question is that it offers something for everyone, and with accommodation ranging from intimate family-run guests houses to world-class jungle lodges and dive resorts. College kids revel in the adventure of jungle trekking and zip-lining, nature lovers marvel at the variety of birds and animals in the country’s protected areas, water babies frolic around the reef and cayes, and the cultural tourists immerse themselves in the Creole, Maya, and Garifuna traditions and rich, vibrant music.

About the size of Wales, Belize is easy to navigate with four major highways from the northern border with Mexico to the western border with Guatemala, as well as numerous daily commuter flights on local airlines. This is perhaps one of the few nations on earth where one can dive the barrier reef one day, and explore ancient Maya temples the next.
