AboutWith over 30 years of operational experience, we at Reef & Rainforest have become acknowledged experts in designing and facilitating superb tailor-made wildlife holidays and small group tours to the best natural history destinations in the world.
Reef and Rainforest Tours Ltd. was founded in a West London flat in 1989, and slowly and organically grew into the small, tightknit team we have today. We operate out of modern offices by the beautiful River Dart in Totnes, Devon, where we have been based for the past 25 years. Our friendly, professional team has an average of 20 years each in the travel business. We are owner-managed and steer clear of corporate business methods which encourage internal competition, preferring to work together in a spirit of cooperation to ensure the best outcome for our clients.
We choose our destinations carefully and reconnoitre them thoroughly so that we can pinpoint the attractions which will most appeal to lovers of nature, wilderness and wildlife. We are past masters at creating logistical, varied yet well-paced itineraries based on our clients' individual profiles which encompass a wide range of experiences, resulting in top quality journeys providing long lasting, happy memories. Reef & Rainforest's in-country partners are picked with the greatest of care so that we can be sure our clients will be looked after completely from start to finish, and the natural history guides we use are among the best available €“ they make such a difference.
Over the past three decades Reef & Rainforest has been a major pioneer in wildlife travel. For example: Reef & Rainforest was the first UK specialist for Madagascar (we worked with Hilary Bradt who led group tours for us); the first to offer jaguar watching in Brazil's Pantanal €“ our director saw his first jaguar there in 2001; the first to promote whale snorkelling off Sri Lanka's east coast, shortly after their civil war ended; the first to develop alternative, affordable itineraries for Papua New Guinea; the first to focus on Indonesia's rich and varied wildlife, developing complex island-hopping itineraries in order to showcase both sides of the Wallace Line.
We currently arrange exceptional wildlife holidays in 30 fabulous destinations including: Madagascar, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador & Galapagos, Peru, Guyana, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania, Rwanda, India, Sri Lanka, Congo (Brazzaville), Eswatini (Swaziland), The Seychelles, Ethiopia, Borneo, Sao Tome & Principe, Bhutan, Colombia, Uganda, Canada (British Columbia), Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
