Andy Tucker gained a degree in Aquatic Biology and then spent two years in Peru and Ecuador, working as a resident naturalist guide in south-east Peru and Amazonian Ecuador, learning Spanish and backpacking around the continent in between his guiding commitments. Having joined wildlife tour operator Naturetrek in 1998, he led a long series of Galapagos cruises and birdwatching and wildlife tours to Ecuador and elsewhere in South America late 1990s and early 2000s, and has seen first-hand how tourism to the ‘enchanted islands’ has changed over the years.
Andy is currently General Manager at Naturetrek, Britain’s leading specialist wildlife tour operator. At the operational/product level, his own interests lie in Latin American and Spain, destinations in which he as a wealth of experience. He’s a passionate lifelong naturalist, still gets out to lead the occasional tour, and away from the world of wildlife travel, enjoys football, cricket, the great outdoors and time with his family.
