Founding Director of Esplora
Damian Croft, Founding Director of Esplora, has worked or lived in Sicily for almost twenty years and is a licensed local guide with the Sicilian Regional government. He has a passion for mediterranean history and culture, as well as deep personal interests in music, literature and the arts, natural history and wildlife. He holds an MA in Social Anthropology from SOAS, London and the highest Italian language (CELI) qualification from the University of Perugia. He also lived and worked in Ankara, Turkey for over three years and is a fluent Turkish speaker. He is also a published writer, having published a collection of short stories and several books of translations from Turkish.
More recently, however, his travels in North Eastern Turkey have led him to the Caucasus where his curiosity for archaeology brought him to investigate the claim that Georgia is the birth-place of wine-making and viticulture.
