Nicholas Crane is an author, geographer, cartographic expert and a recipient of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society’s Mungo Park Medal in recognition of outstanding contributions to geographical knowledge, and of the Royal Geographical Society’s Ness Award for popularising geography and the understanding of Britain. He is a rare combination: a prize-winning writer, geographer and cartographic expert with a charisma that brings his personal passions alive. In recent years, Nick has become best known for his TV work, presenting five BBC2 series: Coast, Map Man, Great British Journeys, Nicholas Crane’s Britannia and Town. He was Vice-President of the Campaign to Protect Rural England and served as President of the Royal Geographical Society from 2015 until 2018.
Nicholas will be talking about his book You Are Here: A Brief Guide to the World on Sunday 3rd February at 1pm. After the event, he will be signing copies of his book at the ‘Signings at Stanfords’ stand.
