She has been a columnist for The Telegraph, The Radio Times, and Country Smallholding and regularly writes on wildlife, rural affairs, travel and wellbeing for various publications.

In 2011 she took over ownership of a council farm in Wales and she and her husband set up a partnership with farmers Tim and Sarah Stephens to demonstrate that a small farm could be run in tune with nature and still be viable.  They established Humble by Nature, a rural skills centre showcasing and passing on the skills of local artisans, growers and producers.

She was the first female president of the RSPB for 110 years and is currently president of WWT.  She’s also a qualified commercial diver. If you need barnacles removing from the bottom of your boat, she’s your girl.
