Extraordinary and Unique Tribal Communities

Southern Ethiopia's tribal lands are home to a rich tapestry of indigenous ethnic groups. Communities such as the Hamer, Banna, Karo, Mursi, Surma, Dorze, Konso, and Arbore each have their unique traditions, languages, and customs, including body and face painting, intricate scarification, and remarkable ceremonies. The Mursi women wear lip plates, while the Karo excel in body painting. The Surma engage in stick fighting, and the Dorze construct beehive-shaped houses. The Konso are known for their stone terraces, and the Arbore use vibrant chalk and colours for body adornment. And the rare and amazing Hamer/Banna bull-jumping ceremonies have to be experienced to be believed.
