Introduction
Benedict Allen is an author, environmentalist, filmmaker and adventurer. He became established as one of the world’s leading modern-day explorers through expeditions famously achieved not with a phone, GPS or the usual “backup,” but by preparation alone with remote indigenous communities. Dispensing with a film crew, he went on to pioneer the recording of adventurous journeys for the TV.
He has made 6 television series for the BBC, and others for National Geographic, History Channel and Channel 5. He has published ten books, two of them best sellers. Just over a year ago, he ventured alone into the remotest corner of Papua New Guinea and found himself trapped between two warring communities. His disappearance became the subject of feverish media speculation around the world.
