Visit San Antonio

It’s a whole other world in San Antonio! Stroll through 18th century UNESCO World Heritage Spanish Missions, peruse the largest Mexican Market in the country, enjoy al fresco dining alongside the River Walk and visit diverse and historic neighbourhoods.

UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy

San Antonio became only the second U.S. city to earn a UNESCO designation as a Creative City of Gastronomy, and the first in Texas. San Antonio’s culinary heritage is significant for its confluence of many world cultures such as Mexican, Spanish, German and French, as well its geology and geography.

San Antonio River Walk

Sightseeing, shopping, food and fun. All on a world-renowned 15-mile urban waterway. The River Walk, or Paseo del Rio, is a San Antonio treasure and the largest urban ecosystem in the nation. Tucked quietly below street level and only steps from the Alamo, it provides a serene and pleasant way to navigate the city.

UNESCO World Heritage Missions

The Spanish Colonial Missions were chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic importance. This rare honour has been bestowed upon only 23 sites in the United States and is one out of ten cultural sites across the country. Visit and tour the Missions by cycling or hiking trails, bus tours or kayak down the River Walk’s Mission Reach

Cultural Shopping – Historic Market Square

The largest Mexican market north of the Rio Grande, Historic Market Square is a three-block complex of stores and restaurants and is listed as one of Frommer’s Best Public Markets. It is the scene of many Hispanic festivals.

Broadway Cultural Corridor

Just north of downtown, Broadway Street connects many of the city’s cultural attractions, including the San Antonio Museum of Art, The DoSeum, The Witte Museum, San Antonio Zoo, Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio Botanical Garden, Brackenridge Park and the McNay Art Museum. Before getting there, stop off at Pearl, a former late 1800s brewery now a destination for groundbreaking culinary, shopping, lodging, entertainment and nightlife on the banks of the River Walk’s Museum Reach.
