The Lesser known Kerala

The talk will cover some hidden gems of Kerala that remain unexplored by the visitor.

While much is known about Kerala there is much that remains unknown, places explored by Harji during his 16 years there. Among the regions Harji will talk about are Mujris or Kondangalur, which has the oldest mosque, church and synagogue in the country; Thattekad, a tucked away bird sanctuary; Parambikulam, perhaps the richest wildlife park in the state; Bekal, a beach that is emerging and Thrissur with its rich tradition of promoting Kalaripeyattu, Kathakali, Mohinattam and Panch vadyam.

Of course Harji will also cover the popular areas of Cochin, Munnar, Periyar, Kovalam and the unique backwaters and the eco tourism that they sustain.

Travelling with Purpose, Is volunteering overseas right for you??

Volunteering overseas can give travellers a unique glimpse into the culture, history, lifestyle, and traditions of the countries they are visiting. Provided it’s done well. After all, it’s natural to wonder about the impact of a volunteer trip - sometimes, finding ways to meaningfully give back can seem like a minefield. How do you know the support you’re giving is making a real difference? How do you know the people you are meeting are really benefiting from your support? These are key questions every would-be volunteer needs to ask, because, when properly designed, volunteering can be an immersive opportunity that helps uncover the true essence of a country, while leaving behind a positive legacy.

Food & Radio with Carlos

For many years now Carlos has been a presenter on Smooth Radio, the past four of which have been on the Smooth Drive Home here in the North West. When he’s not helping his commercial market leading audience get home after a busy day he’s taking to the road himself…

Carlos’ first touring caravan experience was in 1967 at 4 months old! His parents had enjoyed caravanning since the early 50s and Carlos soon revelled in weekends away all over the UK and frequent caravan trips to Spain, France and Switzerland. “The caravan gave me some of the happiest and most memorable times of my childhood,” recalls Carlos, “I loved the whole thing - having our ow second home on wheels and just heading off somewhere to enjoy places we would’ve never experienced without a caravan.”
